ABOUT
Damaris is an interdisciplinary mestiza artist born in Hamburg, Germany, with Ecuadorian Indigenous and French roots. Her work is inspired by the music and art scene and deeply rooted in her connection to nature. It spans creative and movement direction, dance and choreography, as well as mixed-media, textile art, and design. She combines digital and conceptual layers with tactile experiences and movement. She began dancing at the age of 12, while simultaneously developing a strong connection to hip-hop culture, performance, and writing. Shortly after, she started expressing herself in the art and fashion world through multimedia, exploring various techniques in painting, graphics, and textile arts. At 17, she took on her first professional dance and performance jobs, followed by modeling work at 21. Since then, she has performed on numerous stages, at dance festivals, events, and in video productions. Over time, she developed her own visual language through stage concepts, choreographies, and productions—both within and beyond the artistic scene. Her passion for creative expression has continued to evolve, strongly influenced by her way of experimenting with different techniques and combining interdiszipline skills and layers of artistic perspectives. Damaris has exhibited her mixed-media series and installations across Germany. After receiving recognition for her art direction, choreography, and art series, she completed her fashion design studies and expanded into the commercial sector, where she now merges art- and movement direction with content and marketing. She founded the Streetcouture brand DDVM, that represents the creative and performance scene and a sustainable innovative thinking in togetherness and unique quality. 2024 she started the DOMINGUEZ INTENSIVES Series, She has developed her own unique style in dance and directing and collaborates with artists and companies to bring creative visions to life.

DETAILS
In 2019, Damaris spent seven months in Ghana, where she danced and collaborated with the Swedish-Ghanaian fashion brand H.O.L. and a sustainability-focused community center. During this time, she served as a creative assistant for both H.O.L. and the Kokrobitey Institute, honing her improvisational skills and deepening her focus on art direction in combination with dance and movement. In 2021, she received the Häagen-Dazs Artist Award for Best German Choreographer and Director as part of the brand's "Don’t Hold Back" campaign. Shortly thereafter, she was selected for several open artist calls, and her visual and mixed-media exhibitions were shown in various locations across Germany. Her work also led to cultural and artistic exchanges in Ghana, Morocco, and South America.Today, Damaris continues to dance, choreograph, and consult artists and brands on creative strategy, digital content, and online performances. She works as a movement director and creative lead on diverse productions and design projects. Her inspiration stems from music, nature, and community, and her artistic approach remains grounded in authenticity and sustainability. She has exhibited her work in institutions such as Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Geesthacht Museum, HIJACK Gallery, and The Space in Hamburg. In June 2024, she released her first short dance and fashion film in collaboration with videographer Miro Almeida, featuring her sustainable fashion collection "RECOVERY SHAPES." The collection blends elegant street couture with handcrafted textile art, drawing from nature, dance, and performance culture. The Film is also a way of peaceful reconnection to the history of south america and its roots. Damaris believes that self-expression through art, movement, or personal language fosters collective healing by encouraging reconnection.Since 2024, she has also been a community partner of Migrapreneur, founded by Ana Alvarez, and recently curated her first vernissage and panel talk together with Brianna Drain at the Creative Quarter Hamburg. She is continuing to explore the intersection of visual layers and the phyisical and digital world, where all forms of perception are essential to the message. She currently develops concepts for brands and works as a creative consultant, while also collaborating within creative collectives that unite artists from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to realize large-scale visions and cultivate a stronger sense of community.

RECAP 2022 + 2023
SHORT FILM 2024 " Cypher - Body Memory"
In this film project, I, together with videographer Miro, introduce my first sustainable fashion line, "Recovery Shapes," alongside handmade textile art. The project carries a strong anti-colonial message, emphasizing that decolonization requires acknowledgment and a collective shift in awareness toward the Indigenous, Latinx, Afro-Indigenous, and Native American diasporas and communities. It represents a crucial step toward visibility and understanding—necessary foundations for true sustainable change.Through language expressed in movement, forgotten dialects, and textiles, new data is continuously gathered—a multidimensional cipher connecting different layers, languages, timelines, and generations. Through improvisational movement, the collective diasporic body breaks free from false narratives and oppressive structures, creating a visual space of recovery and empowerment.
LANDYISM
PAST IS PRESENT
Produced by Damaris Dominguez and Gary Emekwa, this sustainable fashion film interprets the dandyism born in 1920s Congo, where men adopted the suit from France as a peaceful, spiritual rebellion against colonialism and the dictatorial fashion industry. Damaris's concept highlights the ongoing importance of sustainability in fashion and acknowledges the overlooked presence of female dandies. One female dandy stated, "We free ourselves from traditional roles and dominance. We like being our own artwork and turning all expectations upside down."

Real World Digital stands for authenticity, which I use as a strength in concept development, allowing me to engage communities emotionally and sustainably. To achieve this, I combine art direction with content management, as well as creative vision with analytical foresight. In doing so, I help brands, artists, and companies represent their content and themselves as powerfully and uniquely as possible through high-quality visual concepts. This applies both behind the camera in conception, creative direction, social media management, and post-production, as well as in front of the camera through voice, presence, and performance.
